REMEMBERING THANKSGIVING, A POEM BY Pat Garcia

It’s not about turkey, yams, or stuffing,

Thanksgiving 2016

But the pleasure of gathering to share a meal.

It’s not about money, expensive toys, or outrageous shopping,

But the realization that grace has been extended to see another year almost past and go.

It’s not about closing our doors to visitors and hugging everything for self,

But opening the heart as we reach out to the unfortunate in some unique way.

Thanksgiving,

An opportunity to show gratitude,

Instead of just talking about it.

Thanksgiving,

Becoming conscious of the reality that there is Someone more significant than you and me,

Who knows more than we could ever fathom to understand,

And whose love for us is boundless.

Thanksgiving,

A day set aside to give special thanks to God.

Happy Thanksgiving, Everyone!

Be blessed.

Shalom aleichem,

  1. Not sure if my prior comment posted, but I liked “Becoming conscious of the reality that there is Someone more significant than you and me” the best.
