A DAY IN MY LIFE … SUBTITLE: SNIPPETS OF ME by Pat Garcia

A DAY IN MY LIFE…
SNIPPETS OF ME By Pat Garcia,
2023 #RRBC 30-Day blogging Challenge

JANUARY 2, 2023

I don’t usually blog about my life. It’s too personal, so I’ve added a subtitle, Snippets of Me, to give you some idea of who I am. As I said on the first page of this website, I’m still discovering myself, and therefore find it presumptuous to talk about who I am when I am unsure.

My day usually starts at 5:30 in the morning. Normally, I’m awake at 5 a.m. and sometimes earlier when I receive parts of a story and start writing at 1 or 2 a.m.

However, sometimes I struggle with unexpected circumstances like crises in the world, and my mind gets bogged. Like a roadblock, these situations hinder me. I start getting up later and have to fight my way back to my routine.

I write and read every single day except Sundays. I have belonged to two organizations since 2012 and 2014, respectively, and I blog with one group once a month and with the other once every two months. That’s enough blogging for me.

For me, it is crucial to start my day off in quietness. I don’t run to WhatsApp, Messenger, or my emails. I answer my phone at 11:30 a.m. Out of respect, I look at my WordPress app to see if a visitor has left a comment on one of my blogs and approve it. But I draw the line after doing that.

Shalom aleichem,

  1. It’s wonderful for you to share. I’m looking forward to what else you will blog about. This a good start.

  2. Hi, Pat. I letened to you speak about your book Janey B. tonight. And I will definitely be byeing that book.Sounds like something that can happen in true life. And I like realistic stories.

  3. Hello Pat: Nice and interesting blog! After reading your post, I can resonate with both statements: 1) the personalization of our lives, and the discovery of “the self”. Although we’ve never met, I felt a connection to you (right away). Are your Sundays set aside for taking a “Me Day?” Thanks for sharing!

    1. Hello Ninaorstrom,
Thank you. It is nice meeting you. I don’t usually blog often, but I am, as you have probably seen, participating in a Challenge titled, A DAY IN MY LIFE… and I added a subtitle to break it down a little more into SNIPPETS. My Sundays are set aside for my church, for going out to dinner with one or all of my besties, for playing solitaire on my mobil, for drinking one or two classes of red wine and sitting at my fireplace, for daydreaming, for reading a good book, for seeing a film that interests me on two of the streaming channels and taking a nap. I don’t do all of these things, but I choose what I would like to do by Saturday, and those are the things I do. I don’t go on my emails or do anything that even smells like work unless it is a dire emergency.
I hope this answers your question.

      1. Yes, it definitely answer the question. Your reply indicates (to me) that you do take to nurture yourself. So, you do have a “Me Day.” And I side aside Sundays for my “Me Day’,” as well. Good to that we walk in similar circles. I love it!

  4. I’m also an early riser Pat, often at 4:30 in the morning. This happens because I write in my sleep. When I have a paragraph, I wake up and enter the words in my computer. Getting up early throws off meals for the entire day and I’m ready for lunch at 10:30. Does this happen to you?

    1. Hello, Lady Harriet,
When I wake up with words to write, I wake up and write them. And yes, it does throw me off for the rest of my day. So, yes, it happens to me. I think it is because we are wide awake and our bodies think it is day time but it isn’t. I try to take it easy when it happens and relax and let sleep come upon me, even if it is noon time. I sleep for about two to three hours and then I am back in rhythm with myself.
Thank you for coming by and have a lovely day.
      Shalom aleichem

  5. Hi Pat, Donna Atwood here. You are a wise woman for taking a break every week. I too have adopted this lifestyle change, as I’m no good to others if I’m not good to myself. Here’s to wishing you and yours many blessings in 2023.

  6. Hi, Pat! I am aspiring to be like you – to stay away from the world on Sunday (as you often lovingly insist that I do).

I will be so happy when that war, that is so close to you, comes to an end. I hear the distress coming through your words loud and clear. You are constantly in my prayers. I pray for your safety and for you to have peace.

Thank you for this beautiful post. Looking forward to your Day 2 🙂

  7. Hi Pat. First things first. Hearty congratulations for the WEP. I loved your piece.
Secondly, I enjoy being on your blog. Getting to know you is like seeing a reflection of the kind of person I’d like to be or one that I’m turning into. Quietness is infectious, isn’t it! I wish you a beautiful 2023.

    1. Hello Sonia,
Thank you. If I am a reflection, or a mirror of how you want to be as a writer, then that is the highest compliment any writer could receive. I am humbled by your thought.
      Shalom aleichem

  8. Hi, Pat! Rising that early and greeting the dawn is on my bucket list, but chances are slim that I’ll make a habit of it. I admire you for doing it as I envy the added hours you’ve added to your day. I love snippets, and look forward to getting to know you better through yours. Blessings!

    1. Good Morning Patty,
I look forward to learning more about you too. We have much in common my friend.
      Shalom aleichem

  9. Hi. My writing has also been affected by life events and Covid. First, it was the fear of Covid. A friend of mine caught it at the beginning of the epidemic and is in a nursing home. They induced a coma, and she never recovered. I was terrified of it, wearing my mask and washing my hands until I caught it from my husband. He was sick a few days and went back to work, while I’m struggling to gain back my strength. I joined the blog challenge as a way to get myself writing again. I hope both of us get our writing mojo back.

    1. Hi, Susanne,
I am quite sure you will get it altogether again.
Get well soon and thank you for dropping by.
      Shalom aleichem

  10. My work days start at 5 am as well, Pat, and I hate it. I think it’s ungodly for anyone to have to wake up before the sun. Lol! That’s why I love weekends and vacations so much. I don’t have to wake up so early. 🙂

    1. Good Morning, Yvette,
I am smiling. I feel the same way about lying on the beach, but you enjoy it. It’s so nice to be different but accepting of others.
      Love you.
      Shalom aleichem

  11. Your routine is perfect, Pat. I do venture onto FB to see pictures of the grands, but that’s about it. Keep up the great blogging!

  12. Excellent subtitle, Pat! I sometimes think of one day writing a non-fiction book, so this is good practice for me. Tomorrow I might just give details about my breakfast habit! (It’s the same almost every day). Take care!

  13. Well, you’re off to a good start, Pat.

    Happy New Year!

  14. I enjoyed getting a glimpse of your life, Pat, and salute you for being an early riser! I am not. Thanks for your “snippet”!!

  15. I follow the morning routine you reveal here, but not quite as early as you. Like you, I begin with quietness. Then breakfast, sometimes in reverse order.

    1. Hello, Marian,
Thank you for dropping by. It is nice to know that we have a similar morning routine.
      Shalom aleichem,
