DAY 25, MARCH 25, 2024, TIME CHANGE

Good Morning, Everyone,

Although many of you went to Daylight Savings Time (DST) on March 10, 2024, the European Union will change on March 30, 2024. Usually, the difference between the changes is one week. However, it is longer this time, confusing many of us here in Germany. For example, when it is 3 PM EST in the USA, it is 8 PM GMT +1 here in Germany because the East Coast is now five hours behind us instead of its regular six hours. Adjusting the time to five instead of six hours can be mind-boggling. That’s why I am looking forward to time syncing to the regular rhythm of 6 hours.

Let me show you an example of what I mean. The sun shone brightly this morning when I went to my living room at nine AM. It is now 11:45 AM, and it is still beaming. Isn’t the way the sunlight falls in my living room beautiful?

But, yesterday at 6 PM, twilight had already set, and I was sitting in my living room enjoying my fireplace.

Yes, it was still cold enough to heat the living room for Hadassah, my baby palm tree, and me.

Observing such changes amazes me. It proves my viewpoint that everything changes and that these changes affect us. Our lives are no longer the same.

I wish all of you a wonderful start to the week.

Have a lovely day and take care.

Shalom shalom

  1. Patty Perrin – Florida – Author of Teen/YA SciFi Adventure and Inspirational Non-Fiction, I'm an avid reader, happily married to the love of my life, a mom and gramma and a light and salty follower of Jesus Christ. I grew up an Army Brat in Europe, had no television, and subsequently read books for entertainment in-between adventures that my parents never knew about. My TETRASPHERE series is one I would have loved reading as a teen, which is why I wrote it. I still enjoy the Teen/YA genre, along with SciFi, Fantasy, Time-Travel, some Romance, Mystery, and a few non-fiction categories. If it has print, I will read it. If I can squeeze it into my Kindle, I will read it. You can find out more at www.ptlperrin.org.

    Hi, Pat!

Time changes take some getting used to, but once my inner clock has adjusted, I enjoy the longer days. My car’s clock never gets changed, so when I look at it, I have to remember whether it’s the correct time, or an hour fast. For my non-mathematical brain, that can be a challenge.

    Blessings!
    Patty

  2. I have never been a fan of the time changes. When I used to travel to Brazil, it was even worse. Their time change schedule is completely different (from being in the Southern Hemisphere and being Brazilian). Their standard time was very short-lived. Brazil is on the Equator, so that’s the scientific reason. It was almost impossible to keep up with the changes.

Being retired, I seem unable to adjust to the new time. Fortunately, no one cares since I’m not late for work.

  3. Shirley Harris-Slaughter – I love old buildings and history. That's why I ended up writing about the history that surrounded me all of my life - "Our Lady of Victory, the Saga of an African-American Catholic Community." Plus our church had closed and the school is torn down, so I felt it was imperative that we preserve the history or it would be lost forever.

Beautiful photos Pat. You have a lovely home. I bet you didn’t really appreciate it as much until the pandemic. Nice and comfortable.

  4. maurabeth2014 – Writer of fiction with a touch of suspense and romance. Avid reader, walker, old movie watcher, caffeine drinker, candy muncher (yeah, I said it). #RRBC_RWISA

Pat, I enjoyed seeing pictures of your lovely, sunny home – now I can picture you there when I read something of yours. I agree about the time changes being disruptive. I so wish we would just have one time all year long, but that will probably never happen. Here, it’s bright early in the morning but dark so early at night, but that is getting better as we head into spring. Enjoy your day!

    1. Hello,Maura Beth,
We will change to DST this coming Sunday, and our days will be longer. I too wish all our politicians would stop playing with the time.
Thank you so much for coming by and take care.
      Shalom shalom

    1. Thank you so much for your pingback. It is much appreciated.
      Have a lovely day,

  5. Hi, Pat. I too find the clock changes confusing. We go forward into Spring[where we are already ] on this coming Saturday. again 5 hrs. ahead of Central time. You too have a great week. Love your wood burner we have one of those.

    1. Hi, Joy,
The time change has always been confusing for me. I wish they would decide on a time and stop going back and forth.

Aren’t the wood burning stoves a delight. I love them.
Have a lovely day and take care.
      Shalom shalom

  6. Susanne Matthews – Hi! I live in Eastern Ontario. I'm married with three adult children and five wonderful grandchildren. I prefer warm weather, and sunshine but winter gives me time to write. If I’m listening to music, it will be something from the 1960s or 1970s. I enjoy action movies, romantic comedies, but I draw the line at slasher flicks and horror. I love science fiction and fantasy as well. I love to read; I immerse myself in the text and, as my husband says, the house could fall down around me, and I’d never notice. My preferences are as varied as there are genres, but nothing really beats a good romance, especially one that is filled with suspense. I love historical romance too, and have read quite a few of those. If I’m watching television, you can count on it being a suspense — I’m not a fan of reality TV, sit-coms, or game shows. Writing gives me the most pleasure. I love creating characters that become real and undergo all kinds of adventures. It never ceases to amaze me how each character can take on its own unique personality; sometimes, they grow very different from the way I pictured them! Inspiration comes from all around me; imagination has no bounds. If I can think it, imagine it, I can write it!
    Susanne Matthews says:

If it were up to me, we wouldn’t change the time at all and keep it the same way all year round. Spring forward is the worst. It takes my body weeks to get used to it. Fall back is better, but not by much. Have a great week.

    1. Hello Susanne,
I agree. I find it difficult when the time is moved forward. The days are longer and it takes me a couple of weeks to find my rhythm.
Have a lovely day and thank you for dropping by.
      Shalom shalom

  7. Your living room is beautiful, and so is the sunlight.
Time changes are disconcerting for me–and for many people. My Mom used to call the change “Crazy Time.” I’m glad you chose to focus on the positive, Pat!

    1. Hello, Marian,
Thank you. It is always nice when you stop by.
Have a lovely day, and take care.
      Shalom shalom

  8. Stories by Karen – USA – Black began writing in 2010, combining imagination and experience to weave dramatic plots with believable characters in descriptive contemporary settings. She writes in a variety of genres, her character-driven storylines filled with adventure and drama in real-life situations. A four-legged character appears in most of her publications, a testament to her passion for animals. The author of novels, novelettes, and short stories, her books have received awards from Readers’ Favorite, Page Turner Awards, Literary Titan, International Impact, and KCT International Literary, along with accolades from Kirkus Reviews. Black lives in the United States with her husband, and two alien creatures disguised as cats. One of them, her muse, is rumored to be ET’s second cousin. The rumor, however, has not been confirmed.
    Karen Black says:

    Have a lovely day, Pat!

    1. You too, Partner!
