DAY 22, JANUARY 23 2023, A DAY IN MY LIFE…SNIPPETS OF ME By Pat Garcia @pat_garcia @RRBC_Org @RRBC_RWISA @Tweets4RWISA #RRBC_Community #RWISA #RRBC #ADayinMylife

Day 22, January 23, 2023

Good Evening,

I have a still, joyful stream running through me tonight. I’m doing some things differently, and it has been a challenge. However, I love to see what I can do, or better said, see how I can overcome the limitations I sometimes place on myself.

I’ve learned that before I blame others for what I cannot do, I should try to do it. If I fail, I need to examine why I couldn’t do it, or I will never advance the way I want.

That means I can only do the things I have been gifted to do. I can’t do everything. I know I have limits. For example, I know I can’t be a medical doctor because I don’t have that gift. There are so many other things that I can’t do, and I am okay with that. I’m not in the world to copy someone else. I’m here to discover the original Pat I was born to be.

So my day was a day of learning new things that I won’t discuss here. They are my secrets. But it was a day of reaching out to others and intensively listening. If there is anything I enjoy better than writing, it is listening. I can sit and listen and observe for hours.

My list for this week includes the following:

  1. Revising the first 10K of my new novel. It usually takes me at least four to six days to fix 10K. I like to send her my final draft so that she understands the direction I’m moving in.
  2. A letter to write. I had decided to wait until after the Challenge, but my gut is telling me to do it now, which is what I will do.
  3. Answering emails and text messages, Daily
  4. Attend my writing classes and do my homework,

Have a lovely Monday.

Shalom aleichem,

Pat Garcia

  1. Susanne Leist – United States – A career in writing has been an enormous leap for me. Accustomed to the number-crunching field of budgeting and the hectic commodity markets, I left my first career and M.B.A. in Finance behind to pursue my dream. However, I do not regret my foray into literature for one moment. I write every day and have even tried my hand at poetry. So don’t let anyone tell you it’s too late in life to try something different. It is never too late to follow your heart. THE DEAD GAME SERIES brings fantasy and surrealism to the classic murder mystery with dead bodies, suspects, and clues. In addition, it offers vampires and a touch of romance to spice the motley mix. My new release, MEET ME IN MAINE, is the first book in THE BLUE HARBOR SERIES. It provides the backdrop for murder, mystery, and romance in a seaside town. Love falters and flourishes as the residents fight the persistent evil plaguing their small-town lives. Sit back, put up your feet, and let me bring mystery and romance to your lives.
    Susanne Leist says:

A good listener is a rare commodity. Most people pay attention to a certain point, and when you don’t excite them enough, they tune you out, and I begin talking faster before I lose their attention. Recently, I’ve decided I’m not going to speed up my delivery, and if they don’t listen, they’re the ones missing out.

  2. pdoggbiker – Sterling Heights, MI USA – I'm a Vietnam Veteran and author of six books - 3 about my experience during the war in 1970 / 1971 and 3 other memoir type short stories. My website includes everything "Vietnam War". You'll find 500+ personal narratives, photos, videos, music from the era, book reviews, and book trailers about the #VietnamWar. Read our stories and engage with other vets...we all had a hand in shaping history during that time.
    pdoggbiker says:

    Drive on, Partner!

    1. Hello to you, Partner,
Thank you for the encouragement. Field Duty will be over on February 1st. 🙂
      Shalom aleichem

  3. Love the blog, Pat. Being a good listening makes you a suitable candidate for councelling. I hope you lean in that direction !

    1. Hi Joy,
Thank you. As long as I am counseling myself, I don’t have a problem with counseling. There are so many depths in me that I haven’t explored yet.
      Shalom aleichem

  4. Author Jan Sikes – Texas – I am an award-winning author. I love creative writing and I love music. I've published four books that are true stories written in fiction format. They are entertaining like fiction, but everything did actually happen. I've also published a book of poetry and art, nine fiction short stories, and a paranormal romance series (The White Rune Series). I enjoy promoting other authors and Texas music artists!
    Jan Sikes says:

I love the way you embrace your gifts, Pat!

    1. Hi Jan,
Thank you. If I didn’t embrace them, I would be miserable.
      Shalom aleichem

  5. Hi Pat, this is a splendid post. We should all try to be the best person we can and use the gifts we have been given. I think I would have made a good doctor, I am very calm during periods of medical stress and drama and I’ve had so much practice over my life time.

  6. Stories by Karen – USA – With a degree in Criminal Justice, and a fascination with the supernatural, Black combines experience and imagination to create dramatic stories that are believable, but don’t end quite the way you would expect. Black is best known for her short story, MOUNTAIN JUSTICE, where a horse takes center stage in a story of violence and suspense. Her first novel, RACE INTO MURDER, is also equine related. The murder mystery is set at a racetrack, which is not surprising, since for years, she owned and loved thoroughbred racehorses. She still follows the racing circuits. An animal and nature lover, this author does most of her writing in the fall and winter. In the spring and summer, there are hummingbirds to feed, baby critters to watch, gardens to plant, and herbs to nurture. Black lives in the United States with her husband and two aliens disguised as cats. One of the critters is rumored to be ET’s second cousin, but that has not been confirmed.
    Karen Black says:

We all have secrets and most are best kept that way.

  7. Pat, your thoughts are so true. I have felt put down and held back by others (especially big bosses) for years. I know I should just move on and do my best, but sometimes ego can get the better of me. After retirement, I put all of garbage aside. Their nastiness was just part of how they coped. We are all battling our internal monsters. I think I am at peace with mine most of the time now.

  8. Patty Perrin – Florida – Author of Teen/YA SciFi Adventure and Inspirational Non-Fiction, I'm an avid reader, happily married to the love of my life, a mom and gramma and a light and salty follower of Jesus Christ. I grew up an Army Brat in Europe, had no television, and subsequently read books for entertainment in-between adventures that my parents never knew about. My TETRASPHERE series is one I would have loved reading as a teen, which is why I wrote it. I still enjoy the Teen/YA genre, along with SciFi, Fantasy, Time-Travel, some Romance, Mystery, and a few non-fiction categories. If it has print, I will read it. If I can squeeze it into my Kindle, I will read it. You can find out more at www.ptlperrin.org.
    Patty Perrin says:

I love your post today, Pat. It’s a joy to discover our gifts, but that discovery usually means learning what we aren’t meant to do or be. I love that you’re taking this journey, listening, observing, and learning who you truly are. I can imagine the smile on God’s face every time you have another “aha!” moment.

    Blessings!
    Patty

  9. Your line “I’m here to discover the original Pat I was born to be ” reminds me of the admonition to “Stay in your own lane. Don’t compare yourself to others.” If we stay with developing our God-given gifts, contentment is ours. Happy Monday evening, Pat!
