DAY 28, JANUARY 29, 2023, A DAY IN MY LIFE…SNIPPETS OF ME By Pat Garcia @RRBC_Org @RRBC_RWISA @pat_garcia @Tweets4RWISA #RRBC #RWISA #RRBC_Community #ADayinMyLife

DAY 28, JANUARY 29, 2023

Good Morning,

I am ready for this Challenge to end. It has demanded more of my time than I expected. My characters are asking me if I ever will return. Especially Na-Doo, the main female character in my upcoming short story that is not yet released, keeps accusing me of forgetting her. When I told her I didn’t realize the burden the Challenge would have on her story, she advised me to think before I leap the next time, and she tapped her toes on the floor.

She is patiently waiting for the last story that will go out on Tuesday. To keep her happy, I applaud her patience every day and thank her for being so kind to me.

I am laughing. If you think that my characters are my muse, then you’re wrong. My characters are facets of me and would feel insulted if I thought of them as muses.

It’s Sunday, and my Sabbath starts at 6 pm. Typically, at this time of the morning, I am in church. However, I changed my Sabbath’s beginning and end so that I could continue participating in the Challenge and have 24 hours of rest, which I wholeheartedly admit I need.

Since I was up late last night attending a writing seminar on Using Character Emotion to Wow Reader by Becca Puglisi on Zoom, I’m dragging today. But I still have a few more things I want to accomplish before I call it quits at 5:45 pm.

My list of open items includes the following:

  1. Cooking an Erbsen Eintopf. (One of my favorites Eintopfs made by the Bundeswehr. You may find the link here. https://www.kochbar.de/rezept/501362/Erbseneintopf-nach-Bundeswehrart.html
  2. Revising the first 10K of my new novel. It usually takes me at least four to six days to fix 10K. I like to send her my final draft so that she understands the direction I’m moving in.
  3. Answering emails and text messages, Daily
  4. Finishing the last revision of my first novel.

Have a blessed Sunday.

Shalom aleichem,

Pat Garcia

  1. Shirley Harris-Slaughter – I love old buildings and history. That's why I ended up writing about the history that surrounded me all of my life - "Our Lady of Victory, the Saga of an African-American Catholic Community." Plus our church had closed and the school is torn down, so I felt it was imperative that we preserve the history or it would be lost forever.
    Shirley Harris-Slaughter says:

Well, I don’t have a main character. My head is completely empty. And I’m okay with that.

  2. Susanne Leist – United States – Welcome, reader. I’m the author behind two paranormal suspense series designed to keep you on the edge of your seat and maybe even tug at your heart. In The Dead Game Series, The Dead walk in the night and into the day, leading our heroines on a dangerous journey from the sunny shores of Florida to the icy reaches of Quebec. My latest project, The Blue Harbor Series, introduces a new pair of heroines determined to save their coastal town from an ancient Indian curse. In Book One: Meet Me In Maine, they confront the curse’s dark origin and the painful legacy of the Penobscot Nation, unjustly uprooted by colonization. So please sit back, put your feet up, and let me bring a little mystery and romance into your world. As a special treat, I invite you to read My Last Year, a heartfelt story written from the perspective of my beloved Maltese, Nounous, my muse, my shadow, and my best friend.
    Susanne Leist says:

Some days I despair of writing the blog post, but after it’s written I bask in my accomplishment. Any new writing challenge enhances our capabilities as authors. That’s what I tell myself. I’ll miss your daily snippets of life.

  3. Patty Perrin – Florida – Author of Teen/YA SciFi Adventure and Inspirational Non-Fiction, I'm an avid reader, happily married to the love of my life, a mom and gramma and a light and salty follower of Jesus Christ. I grew up an Army Brat in Europe, had no television, and subsequently read books for entertainment in-between adventures that my parents never knew about. My TETRASPHERE series is one I would have loved reading as a teen, which is why I wrote it. I still enjoy the Teen/YA genre, along with SciFi, Fantasy, Time-Travel, some Romance, Mystery, and a few non-fiction categories. If it has print, I will read it. If I can squeeze it into my Kindle, I will read it. You can find out more at www.ptlperrin.org.
    Patty Perrin says:

Hi, Pat! I’m also looking forward to the end of the challenge, especially for my characters’ sakes, but I’ll miss reading your posts, and everyone else’s. It’s been fun getting to know you! Na-doo will be happy to have her story finished, and so will I. Can’t wait to read it!

    Blessings!
    Patty

  4. maurabeth2014 – Writer of fiction with a touch of suspense and romance. Avid reader, walker, old movie watcher, caffeine drinker, candy muncher (yeah, I said it). #RRBC_RWISA
    maurabeth brennan says:

Pat, looking forward ro.hearing from the feisty Na-doo. Looked.up the recipe but its in German, however it looks like my pea soup only with sausage. Yum! The challenge is too long! One week would have been enough.

    1. Hello Maura Beth,
If you use the Google explorer, it will translate the menu for you. I don’t put sausage in mine right away. I usually make mine with onions, white potatoes, and carrots. I cook the sausage in a skillet and serve it separately. I don’t like the sausage taste to be in my Green Pea Eintopf.

As for the length of the Challenge, at first, I thought we should have a day off, but now that is almost over and I tally up the benefits that I have received from testing myself, I can say that is the purpose of any challenge. They are there to push you pass your comfortabilities. I am glad I am hanging in there.

      Have a lovely evening.
      Shalom Aleichem

  5. How I admire you and all the folk completing this huge challenge.Well done to you Pat and all the participants for your tenacity and determination.

    1. Hi, Joy,
      Thank you.
Maybe, next time you will join us. I have learned so much about myself just being a part of it.
      Shalom Aleichem

    1. Hi Joylene,
Yes, it is delicious. I also use sausage and sometime chicken. I like cooking the meat separately in a skillet so that it doesn’t spoil the taste of the stew.
      Thank for coming by.
      Shalom aleichem

  6. I am anxious to read the short story about Na-do! I cannot imagine blogging every day in January! I have enjoyed your blogs, but I know you are ready for them to end! I am so proud you stuck to it! Congratulations! You are almost there!

    1. HI, Ann,
It has really been a Challenge, a Challenge that tested me completely. However, I am so glad that I participated.
I hope that my new release comes out this week.
      Shalom Aleichem

  7. Stories by Karen – USA – Black began writing in 2010, combining imagination and experience to weave dramatic plots with believable characters in descriptive contemporary settings. She writes in a variety of genres, her character-driven storylines filled with adventure and drama in real-life situations. A four-legged character appears in most of her publications, a testament to her passion for animals. The author of novels, novelettes, and short stories, her books have received awards from Readers’ Favorite, Page Turner Awards, Literary Titan, International Impact, and KCT International Literary, along with accolades from Kirkus Reviews. Black lives in the United States with her husband, and two alien creatures disguised as cats. One of them, her muse, is rumored to be ET’s second cousin. The rumor, however, has not been confirmed.
    Karen Black says:

Although I haven’t met her, I already like Na-Doo! Enjoy your Sabbath, Pat.

  8. Linda Mims – Midwest, USA – Educator, Author, Blogger, and supporter of Independent Writers. One mystery novel, The Neon Houses, http://amzn.to/2kSqdPX. Find me on Twitter @boom_lyn.
    Linda Mims says:

Pat, great originality! Though I’m no longer officially in the challenge, I challenged myself to continue to the end. I salute you for staying the course. Enjoy the Sabbath!

    1. Hi, Linda,
I wondered what had happened to you. I always looked for your blog in the member chat. I hope to see you at the next Challenge.
      Shalom aleichem

  9. HI Pat, I hope you had a blessed Sabbath. Blogging every day is a lot of work. I blog 4 times a week and that is enough for me. I’m going to follow the link to that interesting looking dish.

  10. I didn’t sign up for the Challenge because I knew it would require more than I would have time/energy for, what with my memoir needing 5-7 hours attention every day, a lot! I’m grateful it’s now “in the hopper,” so to speak. The press-proof should be delivered on Tuesday.

Two more days and you can get back to Na-Doo, who’s waiting patiently.
Take some time to end the view–and to savor soup. I made a huge brew of bean soup and few days ago, and your recipe looks tempting to try next.

You’re getting there, Pat! I’ve enjoyed the journey with you. ((( )))

  11. My main character has given up on me. He’s been trying to get me to write his story for three years now. I keep promising him that I haven’t given up on him. Now, he just rolls his eyes and shakes his head. He bites his tongue because I hold the pen, and he wants to make sure I give him the happy ending he’s looking for. Lol!

I hope you have a wonderful Sabbath, Pat! I, too, am looking forward to the end of this challenge. 🙂
