Welcome to #RRBC’s 2nd 30-Day “A DAY IN MY LIFE” Blogging Challenge! @RRBC_Org @RRBC_RWISA @Tweets4RWISA @pat_garcia

Day 1, March 1, 2024

Today is SHARE A SMILE DAY, so give someone the gift of receiving one of your smiles.

Enjoying dawn and the first part of the day are my best highlights during a twenty-four-hour day. I look out the window above my bed into my ceiling and smile. Gratitude swells in my heart, and I am thankful I live on a quiet street without traffic and fewer kids. Not that I dislike children, but my tendency to sleep at irregular hours is sometimes disrupted when I hear workers working on the children’s playground behind my yard or the loud voices of the kids.
Depending on the time I go to bed and when I wake, most of the adults have gone to work.

My life rhythm has changed since I participated in the first RRBC Blogging challenge. Before, I had a habit of writing in the early morning, but now I write three hours during the day and three to five hours during the night. I usually get seven hours of sleep now instead of six, so that has changed, too. It took me a few weeks to recognize that my inner clock was ticking differently. But as I began to listen to my body, I knew that I would have to get used to a new schedule for living and adapt myself to what my inner clock desired if I wanted to continue smiling through life.

I like smiling at people. Wednesday, I went to my knitting group. It is slowly, and I mean a gradual slow, moving toward nine degrees Celsius, so I walk in with a coat and a beanie cap on my head. One of the ladies asked if I was cold, and I answered, “Of course. It’s wintertime,” and they laughed. It was about 8 degrees Celsius, but for them, it was like spring because the sun was shining. For me, it was winter. Unknowingly, I do many things here in this cold country that make people laugh.

Take care everyone. I have work to do before I enjoy my evening.

See you tomorrow.

Shalom shalom

  1. Hi, Pat! What a lovely post! I would love to know about some of the things you do there that make the people laugh? Unknowingly, just like Maura Beth and Joy G., you are one who tickles me pink, because you’re funny, even when you’re not trying to be and I love that about you all! Keep sharing your smile, because your smile is absolutely beautiful!

    1. Hello, Nonnie,
I don’t know how I do that. I do know I don’t try to be that way. Even in my concerts when I speak with the people in German, they laugh. They aren’t laughing at me, but laughing with me. People see me as humorous, but I can’t explain why and that is good.
Have a lovely evening, and take care of yourself.
      Shalom shalom

  2. Susanne Leist – United States – Welcome, reader. I’m the author behind two paranormal suspense series designed to keep you on the edge of your seat and maybe even tug at your heart. In The Dead Game Series, The Dead walk in the night and into the day, leading our heroines on a dangerous journey from the sunny shores of Florida to the icy reaches of Quebec. My latest project, The Blue Harbor Series, introduces a new pair of heroines determined to save their coastal town from an ancient Indian curse. In Book One: Meet Me In Maine, they confront the curse’s dark origin and the painful legacy of the Penobscot Nation, unjustly uprooted by colonization. So please sit back, put your feet up, and let me bring a little mystery and romance into your world. As a special treat, I invite you to read My Last Year, a heartfelt story written from the perspective of my beloved Maltese, Nounous, my muse, my shadow, and my best friend.
    Susanne Leist says:

I’m happy to see you returned for the blogging challenge. I’ll follow along each day. I hope to join in the next time around.

  3. pdoggbiker – Sterling Heights, MI USA – I'm a Vietnam Veteran and author of six books - 3 about my experience during the war in 1970 / 1971 and 3 other memoir type short stories. My website includes everything "Vietnam War". You'll find 500+ personal narratives, photos, videos, music from the era, book reviews, and book trailers about the #VietnamWar. Read our stories and engage with other vets...we all had a hand in shaping history during that time.
    pdoggbiker says:

Hey, bud! Good luck on your venture. I am not a morning person and like to sleep in since I’ve retired. Kids, today, are not an issue as in the past. They stay more indoors and do things vs. playing outside like we used to while growing up. So I don’t hear them at all. As for your temperature, 8 deg. C. here in Michigan is t-shirt and shorts weather. Keep the faith!

    1. Hello, JP,
Thank you. I can very well understand wanting to sleep a little bit longer. That darling granddaughter of yours is smart, and I am quite sure that she has a smart brain and wants to play more intelligent games than playing on a playground. As for 8 deg.C, JP that is winter for me. Some people here also walk around in t-shirts and shorts but I don’t. That’s do cold for me.
Thank you so much for dropping by and encouraging me.
Take care and many greetings on your lovely family.
      Shalom shalom

  4. maurabeth2014 – Writer of fiction with a touch of suspense and romance. Avid reader, walker, old movie watcher, caffeine drinker, candy muncher (yeah, I said it). #RRBC_RWISA

Pat, for some reason my first comment did not show up. I’m glad you’re listening to your inner clock (very wise) and smiling! And if you write 8 hours a day, you are a superstar! We love benefiting from all your hard work when we read your awesome works.

    1. Good Evening, Maura Beth,
Listening to my inner clock is so important to me because if I don’t listen, I find myself making commitments that I cannot fulfil. I am not a superstar. I do other things in those eight hours like editing, writing down ideas and research. I am not always writing in those eight hours but I count in those things that I have to do to make a piece readable.
I benefit from all the hard work of the authors at RRBC, and I am glad to be among you.
Thank you so much for dropping by and have a lovely day.
      Shalom shalom

    1. My Dear Yvette,
Thank you. That compliment I accept because I want to have a grateful heart.
Take care of yourself and enjoy today.
      Shalom shalom

  5. J.Q. Rose – After writing feature articles in magazines, newspapers, and online magazines for over fifteen years, J.Q. Rose entered the world of fiction. Her mysteries published by BWL Publishing are Terror on Sunshine Boulevard, Dangerous Sanctuary, and Deadly Undertaking. She returned to her first love of writing non-fiction with eBooks on gardening and writing and an inspiring interactive eBook for MG girls, Girls Succeed: Stories Behind the Careers of Successful Women. After presenting workshops on Life Storytelling for 20 years, JQ used the lessons she shared with her participants to pen her memoir, Arranging a Dream: A Memoir. The inspiring story takes place in 1975-1976 when we moved to West Michigan to purchase a floral shop. We did not know anything about running a business, designing flowers or operating a commercial greenhouse business. Blogging, photography, Pegs and Jokers board games and travel are the things that keep her out of trouble. She and her husband spend winters in Florida and summers up north with their two daughters, two sons-in-law, four grandsons, one granddaughter, two grand dogs, four grand cats, and one great-grand bearded dragon.
    J.Q. Rose says:

Hi Pat. You are wise to listen to your body changing. I don’t know if you’d say you listened or felt the changes. Enjoyed your first blog during this March challenge. Have fun with it!!

    1. Good Evening, JQ,
Thank you for dropping. I say I listened to my body. I have to think about that. Does one listen and react or feel and react. Good question my dear.
      Have a lovely Sunday.
      Shalom shalom

  6. Patty Perrin – Florida – Author of Teen/YA SciFi Adventure and Inspirational Non-Fiction, I'm an avid reader, happily married to the love of my life, a mom and gramma and a light and salty follower of Jesus Christ. I grew up an Army Brat in Europe, had no television, and subsequently read books for entertainment in-between adventures that my parents never knew about. My TETRASPHERE series is one I would have loved reading as a teen, which is why I wrote it. I still enjoy the Teen/YA genre, along with SciFi, Fantasy, Time-Travel, some Romance, Mystery, and a few non-fiction categories. If it has print, I will read it. If I can squeeze it into my Kindle, I will read it. You can find out more at www.ptlperrin.org.
    Patty Perrin says:

Hi, Pat! Keep smiling! Waking up with gratitude and a smile can set the tone for your entire day. I’m glad to hear you do that. Today, while shopping, I met an older woman whose face shone with joy. She engaged me in conversation and I soon realized she lives in gratitude. I couldn’t believe she’s 95, as the light in her spirit makes her seem so much younger. Your spirit has that same light, and your smile is sure to brighten everyone’s day when they see you.

    Blessings!
    Patty

    1. Good Evening, Patty,
Thank you. Isn’t it amazing how other people see us? Thank you for your very kind and wise words.
I miss you this year on the Challenge.
Take care and have a lovely Sunday.
      Shalom shalom

  7. This morning I went grocery shopping and I’m sure I smiled at someone. Most were looking rather dour and needed some cheer.

You’re smart to adapt to your body’s clock ticking differently nowadays. As I mentioned to you in yesterday’s comment, I blog regularly but not daily these days. Breaking my long-time ritual of once weekly, readers know to expect me every other Wednesday now, (twice a month). I can keep up with that.

Kudos to you for accepting this challenge, Pat! 😀

    1. Hello Marian,
Thank you for dropping by and also informing me that you have changed the rhythmus of your blog. Now I know and will put it in the calendar for blogs that I follow.
      Have a lovely Sunday.
      Shalom shalom

  8. Shirley Harris-Slaughter – I love old buildings and history. That's why I ended up writing about the history that surrounded me all of my life - "Our Lady of Victory, the Saga of an African-American Catholic Community." Plus our church had closed and the school is torn down, so I felt it was imperative that we preserve the history or it would be lost forever.
    Shirley Harris-Slaughter says:

Hi Pat. You painted a vivid picture and my imagination went to work seeing and feeling what you are experiencing. The sun is shining bright in my country but it’s been warm and cold. I think we are experiencing a very mild winter.

Thank you for sharing your morning with us.

    1. Good Evening, My Dear Shirley,
Thank you for leaving a comment on my blog. I truly appreciate it.
I was looking forward to reading your blog on the challenge. I will miss you.
Enjoy your day and have a lovely Sunday.
      Take care.
      Shalom shalom

    1. Good Afternoon, Wanda,
Thank you, and I send you back smiles.
Have a lovely Sunday and take care.
      Shalom shalom

Since I was a little girl I have been a singer and fronted bands for years. People everywhere are wearing my jewelry and eating the food I create and sell. In my spare time I am a mentor/guide for others along their personal and professional paths. Thank you for joining me here and be sure to let me know what I can help YOU with!

  10. Stories by Karen – USA – Black began writing in 2010, combining imagination and experience to weave dramatic plots with believable characters in descriptive contemporary settings. She writes in a variety of genres, her character-driven storylines filled with adventure and drama in real-life situations. A four-legged character appears in most of her publications, a testament to her passion for animals. The author of novels, novelettes, and short stories, her books have received awards from Readers’ Favorite, Page Turner Awards, Literary Titan, International Impact, and KCT International Literary, along with accolades from Kirkus Reviews. Black lives in the United States with her husband, and two alien creatures disguised as cats. One of them, her muse, is rumored to be ET’s second cousin. The rumor, however, has not been confirmed.
    Karen Black says:

Hi, Pat! Keep warm in those cold German temperatures. Happy Challenge Day 2!

    1. Hello, Karen,
I need to send some of this cold weather to you. I know you would enjoy it.
      Thank you for dropping by.

      Shalom shalom
