DAY 5, MARCH 5, 2024, HAPPY NATIONAL CHEESE DOODLE DAY!
Good Morning!
I don’t know what cheese doodles are, but I like to eat cheese, especially European cheeses from France, the Netherlands, Italy, and Germany. They are the best I have ever eaten, so I hope Cheese doodles are a food item.
As a child, one of my favorite cheese snacks was cheese crackers from Cheez-It. I ate many little boxes of them, especially when I was at the university. Sometimes, they were my breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
That hunger for them continued until I became an expat in Germany. I soon discovered that they did not have cheese crackers, and I broadened my taste by switching over to the different types of cheeses offered in Europe, which was even healthier.
However, whenever I visit my family in the USA, I slip back into an old desire hidden within me. I go out and buy a box of cheese crackers. They have become precious to me because I don’t eat them daily. They are a unique delicatessen that I delight in.
Now, I must work. We have a cloudy day here, and I want to bring in some wood for my fireplace before it starts raining and read one more chapter of the novella I am writing.
I wish all of you a lovely day.
Shalom shalom,
Pat Garcia

Hi, Pat! I may have referenced your blog post on one of my posts regarding you not knowing what cheese doodles were. I hope you saw it. I’m not a big cheese lover, but your palate for cheeses from all over the world is incredible! Good for you! I don’t really like trying new things, especially when it comes to food. But, this family of mine, loves anything and everything, from anywhere in the world. THEY ARE HUGE FOODIES! (Give me a green smoothie and let’s call it a day… I’m good).
Thanks for sharing, Pat!
Hello, Nonnie,
I am smiling. I like that your family is international. They must get you on a plane and show you Europe. I will be your tour guide. We would have you tasting a little bit of everything. 😊
Have a lovely day and take care.

Pat, I discovered those little cheezits but I cannot eat them anymore. One of life’s pleasures that was taken away from me. I am learning how to cook the foods that I can eat but its not easy.
So enjoy your cheezits. Eat them for me. Lol!
Pat, unfortunately, the only cheeses I like is on a pizza or Win Schuler’s cheddar bar cheese with wheat thins. However, when speaking of German bakeries – the pastries are to die for.
Pat, I am a huge cheese fan, I could eat it with or on anything or just a chunk by itself. Also the thought of being surrounded by bakeries sounds heavenly! Your life in Europe sounds just delightful and very different than here. I hope one day to get to Europe, but I better get a move on. When we were younger, my husband and I traveled quite a bit, but mostly in New England and Canada and Nova Scotia. I am so glad we did! I hope your cloudy day didn’t turn into rain – it is pouring here in NJ!!
Pat, I’m a huge cheese fan myself. I spent a lot of time in France during my work years with Sperian Inc., which had been Bacou-Dalloz before. I love most cheese, although I must admit some of the preferred cheeses in France were disgusting (to my American tastes). One was an aged goat cheese which smelled like rotten eggs. My French compatriots loved it. My favorite European food was Foie Gras, which is now banned in many places. I hope the weather in Germany is not too harsh these days. All the best!
I love vintage cheddar and other sharp cheeses, though I limit how much cheese I have. My son is obsessed with Cheez-it crackers. If I have them in the house, they disappear almost immediately. Lol!

What’s not to love about European cheeses? They are the best! Have a great day. 🌞
Hi, Pat!
We have no shops in the States that rival the scent of a dairy shop or a German bakery. How I miss those! As tantalizing as cheese doodles are, or cheese crackers of any kind, you have the best of all worlds with your array of fine cheeses. The food pictures you’ve been sending with your blogs make my mouth water. Like yesterday’s pea soup (my German mom made the BEST!), and today’s cheese. You’re whetting my appetite to get back to Europe! For now, I shall raid my kitchen and find those cheese crackers I’ve been hiding for a special occasion. I believe reading your blog post for the day qualifies.
Blessings!
Patty
Hi, Patty,
I am laughing. You really understand what I’m talking about. It is a shame that I had to get to Europe to discover that fresh bread with butter and some cheddar cheese from a diary farm is like eating at a king’s table. I so enjoy that and now I have three bakeries within five minutes from where I live. It is wonderful.
You’re welcome to visit me. Not this year, because I am doing improvements on my home but I hope to have them finish by the middle or end of next year. Maybe around the time of the Weihnachts Markt (Christmas Fair)? The Weihnachts Markten in Luxembourg, Italy, France, Switzerland, and Germany are beautiful.
Thank you for visiting.

Hi Pat–Have you seen the commercial in which they set a piece of American bread on fire and it starts to burn right away, but they try that with a piece of bread from France, and it doesn’t ignite? That’s about right, huh? I love fresh bread, and you have to eat it right away because it has no preservatives. It will get moldy quickly. And the aroma that surrounds those bakeries must be the same as it will be in heaven!
Hi, Wanda,
I haven’t seen that commercial. Maybe it’s not shown over here. Yes, we have to eat right away or maybe in three days, but that is not necessary because we have bakeries all over the place. People are used to getting up and going to the bakery.
Shalom shalom
I’m not sure there’s any food that isn’t better if it’s made or eaten with cheese!
A super life snippet. A yearning for chees. I fear mine is chocolate hance the muffin top that I’m trying to get rid of……….
