DAY 22, MARCH 22, 2024, SMILES TO MY FACE

Good Morning, Everyone,

I opened my eyelids, and the brightest sky with Stratus clouds smiled. There is something special about having a sky window on the right side of where I sleep.
Thoughts of gratitude flooded my mind.

Today, we are eight or nine days from the end of the 2nd RRBC “A DAY IN MY LIFE” Blogging Challenge. Since I have shown you my garden, I want to show you a few things that always bring a smile to my face.

The town next to my village is Hanau-Grossauheim. I drive there primarily when I have to go to the Pharmacy, which is called Apotheke in German. Across from the Pharmacy is the Catholic Church. Although I am not Catholic, I enjoy attending Taize on Friday evenings. We sing songs, A Cappella, and I am a fan of people who can sing a song well without being accompanied by a musical instrument. I consider the voice to be the first musical instrument before mankind began creating instruments.

What I like most about this church is the cherry trees. They have started blooming, and I love standing before the church to admire them.

I have lots to do today, but before I close this post, I want to leave you one of my favorite quotes. This is one of those quotes that follows me. I have posted it below. Vince Lombardi spoke these words to his team, the Green Bay Packers. He was also the first coach to win Super Bowl 1 in 1967, and the Super Bowl Trophy is named after him.

Have a lovely day, and I’ll see you tomorrow.

Shalom shalom,

Pat Garcia

  1. Shirley Harris-Slaughter – I love old buildings and history. That's why I ended up writing about the history that surrounded me all of my life - "Our Lady of Victory, the Saga of an African-American Catholic Community." Plus our church had closed and the school is torn down, so I felt it was imperative that we preserve the history or it would be lost forever.
    Shirley Harris-Slaughter says:

Hi Pat, I know I must be late but I’m glad I got to see the beautiful tree in full bloom.

See you on the next go round!

    🤗🤗

    1. Hello My Dear Shirley,
I m glad you got to see the beautiful cherry tree in full bloom.
I hope you are doing well.
Take care of yourself, and have a lovely day.
      Shalom shalom

  2. The cherry trees are beautiful, Pat. Very peace-inspiring. Our trees were beginning to bud outside my windows, but today we had snow. Don’t know what we’ll do now. I hope it doesn’t kill our trees for good. Trying to stay warm until I have to bundle up and head out to do my radio show.

I too love a cappella singing. It’s a challenge, but it also gives me the incentive to “find” the harmonies easier when there is no musical accompaniment. I go around the house all the time, singing a cappella music. It’s a good way to find the right key for a song, too.

    1. Hello, Wanda,
I love a cappella singing. I learned how to sing and harmonize with my mother when I was just a small kid. Developing your voice like that you really learn how to sing. Today many singers can’t sing without a microphone and a band, but I learned how to control my voice, to hear it from the inside from my mother.
Thank you for dropping by and I hope your trees outlive the snow.
      Take care.
      Shalom shalom

Old town Europe is my favorite. I’ve visited many churches and cathedrals while touring Germany and Belgium and was in awe of the detail and construction. The audio is always good, too, and normally a microphone was not needed. That’s probably why the singing in the next town was so good. Did you name these cherry trees?

    1. Hello, JP, My Dear RNH Partner,
Old town Europe is my favorite too. The acoustic in the churches is still excellent.
No, I didn’t name these cherry trees, but I love them. They are beautiful and especially when they bloom.
      Thank you for dropping by.
      Shalom shalom

    1. Hello Yvette,
Hanau is a lovely city and Aschaffenburg is twenty-eight kilometers away and that is truly a lovely small city. I am glad your parents love it.

  5. Patty Perrin – Florida – Author of Teen/YA SciFi Adventure and Inspirational Non-Fiction, I'm an avid reader, happily married to the love of my life, a mom and gramma and a light and salty follower of Jesus Christ. I grew up an Army Brat in Europe, had no television, and subsequently read books for entertainment in-between adventures that my parents never knew about. My TETRASPHERE series is one I would have loved reading as a teen, which is why I wrote it. I still enjoy the Teen/YA genre, along with SciFi, Fantasy, Time-Travel, some Romance, Mystery, and a few non-fiction categories. If it has print, I will read it. If I can squeeze it into my Kindle, I will read it. You can find out more at www.ptlperrin.org.

Hi, Pat! I love that quote of Vince Lombardi’s. Our strength and security are in the Lord, and in Him, we can accomplish anything. Those trees in Hanau are gorgeous! Thanks for sharing them with us!

    Blessings!
    Patty

    1. Hello, Patty,
Vince Lombardi was my favorite coach and I haven’t met another coach like him. He was a Christian and believed in living like one.
Thank you so much for stopping by.
      Shalom shalom

  6. I love this post, Pat. It reminds me of when I used to go to Sunday school church, also to the catholic church with my bestie. The trees in blossom are beautiful and I understand why you stand and watch them.
Vince Lombardi’s quote is great and on to remember. Thanks.

    1. Hello, Joy,
Thank you. Yes, Vince Lombardi’s quote make a person think about how they are leading their lives.
      Have a lovely day.
      Shalom shalom

  7. Lovely blossoms, lovely poem! I was stationed (US Army) in Hanau from 1981-1983. Never did see the brothers Grimm change places at midnight on New Year’s Eve! Thanks for triggering some wonderful memories.

    1. Hello, Rhonda,
I know you must miss Europe. I am glad I could bring back wonderful memories of the time you were stationed here.
Have a lovely day and thank you for dropping by.
