DAY 15, MARCH 15, 2024, WORLD SLEEP DAY

Good Morning, Everyone,
I thought long and hard about today’s calendar topic because I always contemplate and ask myself when the world will wake up. I don’t mean that to sound sarcastic, either.
When I hear the news on television, read various newspapers, or listen to specific podcasts, when I examine the unrest among the different nations and the wars that are taking place, I can only shake my head at what I see and hear, and I wonder why others don’t see it.

We are at fault for disturbing the circadian rhythms of our internal clocks. It is time we wake up to see that our behavior patterns keep us from sleeping.

I don’t know of any child who can sleep on an empty stomach or while bombs are bursting all around them.

The sun is coming up, sneaking a peek through my bedroom window.

All the elements needed for a good night’s sleep will be available when we change our way of living and stop bickering and fighting against one another in wars.

Have a lovely day, and take care.

Shalom shalom

  1. Patty Perrin – Florida – Author of Teen/YA SciFi Adventure and Inspirational Non-Fiction, I'm an avid reader, happily married to the love of my life, a mom and gramma and a light and salty follower of Jesus Christ. I grew up an Army Brat in Europe, had no television, and subsequently read books for entertainment in-between adventures that my parents never knew about. My TETRASPHERE series is one I would have loved reading as a teen, which is why I wrote it. I still enjoy the Teen/YA genre, along with SciFi, Fantasy, Time-Travel, some Romance, Mystery, and a few non-fiction categories. If it has print, I will read it. If I can squeeze it into my Kindle, I will read it. You can find out more at www.ptlperrin.org.
    Patty Perrin says:

    Hi, Pat,

The Bible says we will always have wars and rumors of wars until the great Day of the Lord when Jesus establishes His government on earth. Until then, I’m placing my trust and faith in Him, trusting that despite man’s lust for power and disregard for human suffering, He is still comforting, healing, delivering, saving, and on the Throne. He is waiting for all who will turn to God to do so before He returns. What we’re seeing now is the formation of the final alignment of nations. Lord willing, it won’t be too far off until the babies can sleep in peace.

    Blessings!

    1. Patty, what you’re saying is so true. Let us pray that people start turning to the LORD before it is too late.
Thank you for coming by and have a lovely day.
      Shalom shalom

  2. We have long forgotten the importance of sleep. Instead, our societies emphasize the importance of work and money, which only brings stress and exhaustion. Less sleep also brings bad decisions and unhealthiness. I know I definitely need more sleep. 🙁

    1. Hello Yvette,
So, lack of sleep or less sleep is unhealthy, causes bad accidents on the road or on the job, and causes people to make bad decisions. When will we learn?
Thank you so much for dropping by.

  3. Pat, unfortunately our political leaders (in virtually all countries) have their own agendas and own views on the people of Earth. Still, we keep electing them (or do we?). A lot of nations were created following the world wars. That increased tensions among neighboring countries. Also, many countries pretend to be democracies while acting as kingdoms or empires. Think of all the nations created by the fall of the Ottoman Empire at the end of WW1. All those people were under the thumb of the Ottoman emperor. The same can be said about Yugoslavia. In the Western world, it is not much different, except the rulers constantly talk about the will of the people while doing whatever they want.

This has been going on for thousands of years. We all hope things can change, but we must realize our leaders like things just the way they are. I sincerely wish things would change, but people are too easily corrupted by money and power. I hate to be a Debbie Downer, but that is my opinion.

    1. Hello, Karl,
You are not a Debbie Downer. I am a history buff also. I see that we haven’t learn from our mistakes, and I wonder whether we ever will.
Thank you so much for coming by.
      Have a lovely day.

    1. My Dear JP,
      Sadly, that is so true.
      Thank you for coming by.
      Have a lovely day.

    1. Thank you so much for the pingback. I appreciate it greatly.
      Have a lovely day.

  5. Thank you, Pat. In my opinion, American politicians these days are “selling out” to obtain votes, not necessarily caring about making wise decisions. That’s why I pray–and vote!

    1. Stories by Karen – USA – Black began writing in 2010, combining imagination and experience to weave dramatic plots with believable characters in descriptive contemporary settings. She writes in a variety of genres, her character-driven storylines filled with adventure and drama in real-life situations. A four-legged character appears in most of her publications, a testament to her passion for animals. The author of novels, novelettes, and short stories, her books have received awards from Readers’ Favorite, Page Turner Awards, Literary Titan, International Impact, and KCT International Literary, along with accolades from Kirkus Reviews. Black lives in the United States with her husband, and two alien creatures disguised as cats. One of them, her muse, is rumored to be ET’s second cousin. The rumor, however, has not been confirmed.

I don’t disagree, Marian, I absolutely believe the day a politician is elected, his/her primary goal is to be reelected. They vote for the causes of the lobbyists with the money. Unfortunately, those causes are not always the peoples’ choice.

      1. My Dear Marian,
Yes, I see the selling out. I am surprised how selfishness has grown among politicians. Instead of being for the people, they are for themselves.
Thank you so much for stopping by.
        Have a lovely day.

I understand your frustration, Pat. As Wanda correctly mentioned, “The Temptations” sang a song that expressed the feelings of millions. It makes me sad to say, I suspect world peace will remain the wish of millions for years to come.

  7. So much truth here, Pat. I don’t know what it will take to make the powers that be listen. When people hold up banners and say they’re “pro-life” and cut nutrition programs for children after they’re born but protect those fetuses before birth, something’s not right. If you’re pro-life, you protect babies from the time they’re born as well as pre-birth. It makes no sense otherwise. (I am not advocating for abortion; I’m advocating for people to care about babies after they’re born as well. Don’t cut nutrition program so that corporations can get better tax breaks.)

As for the war machine? Back about five decades ago, there was a song on the radio whose chorus went something like this: “War? Huh? What is it good for? Absolutely NOTHING.” I look at the “election” coming up in Russia and think about what the “president” of Russia is doing to takeover an independent country–the number of people who have died on his side and on the other, the destruction to Ukraine–and think of how much the former U.S. president adores him, and I know the former president, if re-elected, will just give Ukraine to him.

How have we come to this?

I know I’m opening myself up for criticism here, but that’s what I think. Thank you for writing this.

  8. Shirley Harris-Slaughter – I love old buildings and history. That's why I ended up writing about the history that surrounded me all of my life - "Our Lady of Victory, the Saga of an African-American Catholic Community." Plus our church had closed and the school is torn down, so I felt it was imperative that we preserve the history or it would be lost forever.

    Hi Pat!

    Speak your truth out loud!
