DAY 16, MARCH 16, 2024, EVERYTHING MUST CHANGE
Growth fascinates me. Looking at the trees I planted in my backyard, I am astonished at how they keep moving toward Heaven.
However, that pertains to everything in life. We are on a journey. When I take the time to observe the people around me, revisit the places I have been, or see a cat or dog grow into maturity, I marvel at how quickly people, animals, places, and situations change.
Nina Simone, one of my favorite singers, recorded a song that has followed me so far in my life, and this song makes me aware of how precious life is and how quickly it can change.
On one of the blogging days during this 2nd RRBC Blogging Challenge, I showed you a picture of my baby palm, three. A leaf had not opened up. Yet today, it has opened, and another leaf is coming. I see the changes when I behold the palm tree I named Hadassah.

Most profound are the changes I see within myself and on my body when I look in my mirror. The changes are sometimes like footprints, revealing that time is passing by.
Everything must change; nothing remains the same.
Learning to live with that reality and remaining true to your purpose is the mark that distinguishes the human being from all else on this earth.

Pat Garcia

Hi, Pat,
I love how you wrapped up today’s post. “Learning to live with that reality and remaining true to your purpose is the mark that distinguishes the human being from all else on this earth.”
There is no growth without change. Remember the little-tree-that-could from my last year’s blog challenge? The one the storm blew over? It’s now twice the height it was at that time, and has gone through its own four seasons beautifully. When I think about growth, it strikes me as a miracle. My once-tiny babies now tower over me. How did that happen? Life changes are always growth opportunities, even when they’re nearly unbearably hard. People we love come and go, and we age. We can accept the difficult changes with trust, hope, and even joy. Positive changes delight us. How dull life would be without change.
Wonderful song. Wonderful post!
Blessings!
Patty, I remember that little tree from last year’s blog challenge and I am so happy to hear that he has grown.
God is good.
Thank you so much for stopping by-

I overlove this post, Pat! Embracing change is not always easy. It helps to remember that experiencing change means I’m still alive, and that, in itself, if a blessing. 🙂

My Dear Yvette,
You have said that wonderfully. When we’re still alive, that is a blessing in itself.
Thank you for coming by and have a lovely day.

Our tree was an imitation of human life and lasted about forty years. We had to put it down after a disease took over and ate it from the inside out. I love your palm tree…
Pat, I also marvel at the passage of time, not only in my own life but the grand scope of all life on Earth. Recently, I have seen a few programs about the special beings that brought agriculture and construction to our ancestors at the end of the last Ice Age. There are stories of similar beings in different parts of the world, like Egypt and South America. The normal people of the day looked at those beings as supernaturals who came to teach humanity. Construction of massive temples like the Egyptian, Inca, and other South American groups all did the same thing. I wonder what life was like for those beings whose lands were lost by the end of the Ice Age. Our world is more complicated that we ever thought.
Thank you so much for this pingback. I appreciate it.
Have a lovely day,
Shalom shalom
Pat, nature really is a marvelous wonder. I watched a young tree grow into these long branches with a height full of foliage that houses the birds and critters and bees nest. I just looked out the window and noticed how big and tall it had grown.
Amazing!
My Dear Shirley,
Yes, nature is phenomenal and I purposely take the time to slow down and enjoy it. It brings joy to heart.
Thank you so much for dropping by, and have a lovely day.

Growth fascinates me, too, Pat. Your little palm is lovely and it is exciting to see new leaves! Yesterday, I planted key lime and mandarin orange seeds. I hope they grow!
Hello, Karen,
You are a master at gardening. I am not, but I am happy with my little Hadassah. I am quite sure all of your seeds will grow. I have no doubt about that. Write a blog post on your blog and show us, when they have grown. I’d love to see it.
Thank you so much for stopping by.

This post is even more soulful than others. Wow! I enjoyed the lyrical voice of Nina Simone–emphatic and sincere. You continue to deliver in this month-long commitment. Blessings to you, Pat! 😀
Thank you so much, My Dear Marian. I love Nina Simone lyrical voice. She studied at Juilliard School of Music. Two of her songs hit me every time I hear them. Everything Must Change and I Wish I Knew How It Feels To Be Free. There are songs that follow me and these two do that.
Take care and have a lovely day.

Beautifully said Pat.We are all here for the shortest time, therefore must make the most of every moment and maybe leave our mark behind.
My Dear Joy, thank you so very much.
Have a lovely Sunday.

“A song that has followed me” – what a beautiful phrase – and post! It reminds me, Pat, how love/art sometimes comes after us, seeks us out, throughout our life, as opposed to the other way around. Thank you for your insights and for your dedication to this monthlong blogging!
Thank you My Dear Lisa.
I so agree with you about Love/art sometimes comes after us, seeks us out, throughout our life. It chooses you. When this happens you are no longer the same. Your life becomes wrapped up in the purpose of the one who chose you, and the road that lies before you, you take.
Take care and have a lovely Sunday.
