DAY 17, MARCH 17, 2024, TRULY, I AM THANKFUL

Good Morning, Everyone,

The sun is out, and unlike yesterday, when it showed splotches of itself at various times in the sky, it is brightly shining, and for that, I am thankful.

When I compare the sun’s radiance to yesterday’s brightness, the words of Jeremiah, the Prophet, rattle within my soul like a child shaking its baby rattling toy.

Through the LORD’s Mercies, we are not consumed. Because His compassions fail not. They are new every morning. Great is His faithfulness. (Lamentations 3:22-23, NkJV)

A deep flood of gratitude storms into my consciousness, reminding me that I awoke in my right mind; I was able to perform self-care myself, to discern putting one foot before the other when I walked, to go down my stairway without fear of falling,

to see the sunrise and marvel at its beauty, to see and feel the warmth beaming right now through my living room window.

Yes, His mercies are new every morning, and His faithfulness is great. Such thoughts awaken the yearning in my heart for a long, hot summer.

I won’t be bundling myself into a heavy coat today. After finishing this article for the challenge, I will go outside and let the wind caress my face. I have long discovered that it is not the big things in life that make me happy but the little things that I sometimes take for granted, like the soft caresses of the wind and its gentle touch to rejuvenate my face. At the same time, my skin protects my cheekbones, forehead, and chin from debris that could harm me.

Taken from my living room window with my iPhone, I saw the beautiful appearance of the rising sun.

Thankfulness is what uplifts me, and not my emotions. My feelings are fickle. They look at my circumstances. I need someone greater than me and all humanity. Someone who’s got me whether I’m confused or troubled, sad or happy. I need the presence of the invisible Creator and Ruler of the Universe, the source of all moral authority. The one who spoke and things came into being.

Getting to know Him is my pearl of great price, and Truly, I am thankful.

Have a lovely Sunday, everyone. See you tomorrow.

Shalom shalom

  1. Hey partner, most appropriate post for a Sunday…and nothing about St. Patrick’s Day. I love the cities in Europe and especially like your photos today and those that Joy shares with us. Thank you!

    1. Backatya Partner! Thank you. I am glad that brought wonderful memories back up.
Have a lovely day and take care.
      Shalom shalom

  2. Pat, your post is beautiful and inspirational! Your photos are comforting, well except for those stairs. LOL! They remind me of my daughter’s front stairs and that’s why I take her tamer back staircase. Lovely scriptures everyone has shared.

    1. I am laughing, Linda about the stairs and your description of the tamer back staircase.
Thank you so much for stopping by and take care.
      Have a lovely day.
      Shalom shalom

  3. Pat, sometimes all it takes is the little things to make us happy. All the fancy toys are just distractions. I love those photos in your post today. The sunset is beautiful and your living room? Very nice. You take great shots.

    1. Hello My Dear Shirley,
Thank you. I take all my shots with my iPhone. You are so right about fancy toys. Sometimes we forget the precious things in life.
Have a lovely day and take care.
      Shalom shalom

  4. Hi, Pat.

There is no place I’d rather be than enjoying the presence of the Lord. I’m grateful that you’re experiencing His goodness, too. Your post today totally resonated with me. In addition to the scriptures you, Nonnie, and Karen have shared, I’ve experienced the truth of these three during this week of rest and recovery…

The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in him, and he helps me. My heart leaps for joy, and with my song I praise him. (Psalm 28:7)

I can do all this through him who gives me strength. (Philippians 4:13)

And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. (Romans 8:28)

Thank you for sharing those wonderful photos. Your home looks warm and inviting, a reflection of your caring self.

    Blessings!

  5. How about… THIS post made my day! First, because I love the sentiment of it all, and second, because I love the photos of your beautiful home! I am so intrigued by how it looks there in Germany (i.e. the photo taken from your window) just as I am when I see the beautiful photos that Joy Gerken shares from outside her home. I know that I’ll never visit you guys across the pond (because I don’t like flying), so thank you (and Joy) for bringing your homes and your neck of the woods to my front door. I love this post!

I love the design of those stairs because they are so different. I’ve seen winding staircases before, I actually have one that drops down into my kitchen, but yours are very different and leave me so intrigued.

Because you mentioned coming down your stairs without fear of falling, I leave you with this:

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” ~Philippians 4:67

Pat, as I do when coming down my stairs, I imagine you pray along the way. So, not only is God guarding your heart and your mind, he’s also guiding your footsteps.

    🙂

    1. Hi, Madam Prez,
Thank you and Philippians 4:6-7 are one of my heart scripture. Your encouragement touches my heart and gives me courage to hold on to my walk with God.
Take care of yourself and have a lovely day.
      Shalom shalom

  6. Hi Pat–We all need to be grateful for those little things. When something small happens in my life that might be annoying, I usually respond, “If that’s the worst thing that happens to me today, I’m golden.”

I don’t think I had that attitude when I was younger. As I’ve grown older, I’ve realized how great my life is. Adding up the little things means that a person has a big pile of great things.

    Thanks for the reminder.

    Wanda

    1. Hi, Wanda,
I think we all grow in gratitude. The more you experience, the more you realize, that thankfulness makes you see things and situations differently.
Take care of yourself and have a lovely day.
      Shalom shalom

  7. Thanks for sending words of cheer–nothing better than this scripture: Lamentations 3:22-23, NkJV, verses I treasure. God’s mercies and faithfulness are fresh every morning.

Thanks also for sharing views of your beautiful home as well as the shot of the rising sun!

    1. Thank you, Marian, for dropping by. That is one of the scriptures that is planted in my heart too. It is a good reminder of how good God is especially when you’re going through the fire.
      All the best.
      Shalom shalom

  8. Your post reminds me, Pat., “This is the day that the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.” Psalm 118:24

  9. These words are so comforting to hear of Gods presence in our lives. The soft caress of the wind blowing across our face as well as the sun warming the blood in our body. Just knowing that God our creator provided us with everything we need. Thank you again for your gift.

    1. Thank you, My Dear Carolyn. To have the presence of God in our lives is very comforting, as you know. It is us courage to move on to the next stage of our lives with assurance that we are not alone. That He is always with us.
      Have a lovely day.
      Shalom shalom

  10. I admire the strength of your faith, Pat. The sunset or perhaps sunrise, not sure what the time of day was when that lovely picture was taken is awe inspiring. We all need to pay more attention to the litlle things in life to gladen our souls. I love Springtime when the buds begin to show on the trees and the bulbs start to appear. Heaven.

    1. Thank you, Joy. My faith is in Him. He knows exactly where I am. I love paying attention to the little things in life.
Enjoy the Springtime and I hope you have beautiful flowers in your garden.
      Have a lovely day.
      Shalom shalom
